Remember . . . Foundation
The Remember . . . Foundation invites executives, parents, neighbors, teachers, and friends to spend 15 minutes or an hour with us. It’s a great opportunity to learn about the foundation and what we do for kids. You will enjoy heavy appetizers and desserts while you listen to our message.
Please join us on Tuesday, November 8th, in the AHS Cafeteria at 7:00 pm. If you wish to attend, please RSVP to Maura Moritz (303-734-6570) by Friday, November 4th. The mission of the Remember . . . Campaign: “Students inspiring students to drive safely and responsibly. Let no one ever forget again.”
4th Annual Toys for Tots
Again this year, the Attendance Crew is coordinating a toy drive for students less fortunate. We would love for all of you to join us in the fun!
Last year our toy drive was extremely successful and rewarding. We were overwhelmed with the generosity of the Arapahoe staff, students and parents. We delivered more than 1200 toys to Swansea and East Elementary schools, and provided toys to the Denver Indian Center, Arapahoe Santa Shop, two women’s shelters and several Arapahoe families. All of this was possible because of you!
The success of the toy drive over the last three years has brought lots of community interest. This year, we are “re-adopting” Fletcher Elementary. You may recall that Fletcher was the first recipient of our “Toys for Tots” campaign. They have asked us to return this year – and we are thrilled to do so! There are 550 students who attend Fletcher and come from very loving families, but their parents struggle to provide the bare necessities. Our goal is to provide a new toy for each student at Fletcher.
There are many ways for you to be a part of this rewarding experience. We need lots of toys and gift wrappers. We are always happy to accept cash donations if you don’t have time to shop. We hope you will encourage all of your students to get involved as well! Last year, we were truly inspired by so many kids who cared. Student clubs, athletic teams, and individual classes contributed greatly to the overall success of the toy drive.
Once again, we have set a price range between $10 and $15 per toy. By keeping within this price range, we can guarantee that each child will receive an appropriate, new toy. Please do not wrap your toys. We will have an after school wrapping party on December 12th. Last year close to 100 students, staff, and parents wrapped over 1000 toys in less than an hour - amazing!
If you have any questions or ideas, please call or come by the Attendance Office. We will be accepting toys and donations through December 15th. Thank you so much for helping us spread a little Arapahoe holiday cheer!
12 Week Progress Reports
Wednesday, November 9th marks the end of the first 12 weeks. Teachers will submit progress report grades by the end of the week. Grades will then be printed and distributed on Friday, November 18th (slightly later than usual due to Arena Scheduling on Wednesday). Students and parents with Portal accounts can view the grades online as soon as teachers submit them.
Department Spotlight – Technology Education
The Technology and Journalism Department has moved in! The new rooms are awesome and the transition is continuing. The Technology classes also received funding for a new curriculum. This means new software and hardware around the room. Robotics, mills, lathes, printers, computers, and a laser engraver are now available for the students to use in class. The 3-D printer is printing in color, and pretty soon if you walk by E7 you will see the robotic arm performing a new task. Come by and see all the new stuff.
Arena Scheduling will take place on November 15th (afterschool) and 16th (during the day, no classes). For all the details, including the time each student registers, visit http://arapahoe.littletonpublicschools.net/ and click on more info beneath Arena Scheduling.
