Parent-Teacher Conferences
October 19th and 20th
4:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Main & Auxiliary Gymnasiums

As a school community, a core value we share is strong communication between Arapahoe High School and your home. All Arapahoe teachers, counselors and administrators have made a commitment to be in attendance both evenings. No appointments are necessary; however, we are suggesting that parents make every effort to meet with teachers as follows:

Students with last names starting with
A – M Wednesday, October 19
N – Z Thursday, October 20

In order to allow our teachers to effectively communicate with all parents, please honor the 5 -7 minute time limit. As always, all teachers are available by appointment if your conference requires more time.

Auxiliary Gym: Abner – Hurt
Large Gym: Kakos - Zisch

Questions? Please call 303-347-6000

LPS Campus Parent Portal Signup
If you don’t yet have an account, our Attendance Office clerical staff will be available at Parent/Teacher Conferences on October 19th and 20th in the media center to get you signed up. In order to access the portal parents first must complete a two-page form available at Arapahoe or online at
http://arapahoe.littletonpublicschools.net/media/eDocs/
AHSParentPortalRequest.pdf
. Then bring the form in along with a photo I.D. Because the photo I.D. is a federal requirement for privacy reasons, you must present it in person. At that time you will receive an “activation key” that will allow you to create your Parent Portal Account online.

If you already established your account between March 7th and August 15th and have not yet signed the Acceptable Use Agreement Form, please stop by our table at Parent/Teacher Conferences and see us. The new form is a result of recent School Board policy and is needed for all parents who have accounts.

Student Invoices
Student invoices will be mailed home the week of October 10th. Invoices are due payable in full by October 31st. Students will be invoiced for their fall course fees, athletic participation fees for fall sports, and any other outstanding fees and fines. This invoice will show fees that have already been paid as well as those that are due. It will give a complete accounting of your student’s fees throughout the year. The invoice does not cover any club dues, booster dues or miscellaneous activity fees. Those are collected by the individual club or sport. Your checks will be deposited in a timely manner and you will only need to write one check to cover all fees instead of several checks. All returned checks are collected by Global Recovery.

According to school policy, students will not be able to participate in Arena Scheduling until all fees and fines are cleared. If a student withdraws from Arapahoe High School, transcripts will not be sent until all outstanding fees and fines are cleared. Fee/Fine lists are updated and posted throughout the building on a regular basis. Students are encouraged to check them frequently to avoid “surprises.”

Faculty Talent Show
The Second Annual Faculty Talent Show is being presented in the AHS Theatre on Tuesday, October 18th. Don't miss seeing the amazing talents of all of your favorite teachers and staff members. Show time is 7:00 p.m. and tickets are $5.00. This is a Link Crew sponsored event.

Link Crew is a program dedicated to bringing together the students of Arapahoe in a positive way that will create a safe, enjoyable environment for everyone. We do this by breaking down "class barriers" and increasing communication between the upper and lower classmen. Most importantly, Link Crew is about having fun! All proceeds from the talent show will help Link Crew pay for the costs needed to run our program.

Colorado Supreme Court to Hold Hearings at AHS
We are excited to announce that the Colorado Supreme Court will hold hearings on two cases at Arapahoe High School. Very few schools are selected for this opportunity and we are looking forward to learning more about the processes of appeal in this state and the workings of our state’s highest court. We will be focusing on the cases in our government and law courses, and there is the potential for discussions with the justices following the event. The hearings will take place in the Arapahoe High School Theatre on December 7th and will involve as many students as possible. As soon as the details are known and the cases have been assigned, we will inform students and their parents of the plans.

Spring Semester College Courses
Any Senior or Junior wishing to take college courses during the spring semester needs to attend a required meeting with Mr. Mike Ribelin at 12:15 pm on Wednesday, October 19th in the Guidance Center Conference Room to discuss application procedures. Should you have any questions, please see your Guidance Counselor.

Department Spotlight – Physical Education
The Physical Education Department is excited to be using our new facility. The weight room is top of the line and the students and athletes are getting the most from it. In addition to weight training classes, students and staff are invited to use the room after school. The new auxiliary gym is a great addition and the students are able to partake in many activities. All the lockers in the Physical Education Department have been replaced and each student now has their own locker. In addition the ladies have a brand new locker room.

We are also offering a new Yoga Pilates class as part of our curriculum. Mrs. Andrea Bradley is teaching the class and students are enjoying participating and learning.
