PLAN Test
Sophomores can register for the PLAN test in the Guidance Office at the Post Grad Center through November 2nd. The cost is $20.00. The test is on Saturday, November 5th at Arapahoe High School.

NetDay Speak Up 2005
NetDay, a national, education technology non-profit organization and Littleton Public Schools invites students and teachers to take part in an online survey during the 2005 Speak Up Event. Littleton Public Schools is participating in the online survey to contribute to the national discussion and because we will have access to our aggregated school data. LPS will use this data to inform technology decisions and purchases, to learn how to best provide instruction to today's tech-savvy students, to plan for teacher training, and to stimulate discussion about key technology issues in our community.

To participate, students should visit http://www.netdayspeakup.org/student_lookup.asp (teachers go to a different URL and take a different survey), enter in our zip code (80122) and school name (arapahoe), then click Find School. When the list of schools comes up, click on Arapahoe High School. It will then ask you for the “secret word”, please enter littleton, then click the login button. The window for taking the survey is now through Friday, November 18th. The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous.

Department Spotlight – Social Studies
The Social Studies Department will host a Veterans’ Day celebration on Friday, November 11th, in the Forum. Freshmen will go to the Forum during their U.S. History classes that day to hear veterans speak. They will also be able to ask questions of the veterans who served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan. Sophomores, juniors and seniors are encouraged to visit the Forum during their unscheduled hours that day.

On December 7, the Colorado Supreme Court will hear two cases at Arapahoe. One involves theft and lockers at a place of business and the definition of words in the statute. The other is a major case involving gun control and the ability of cities to enforce stricter gun control than the state’s level. All senior social studies courses (Government, Economics, AP US History) and the junior Western Civilizations – Honors course will devote some time preparing the students with regards to judicial processes and the cases. The seven justices will attend a lunch with fifty of our students after the cases have been heard. These are NOT mock cases, but are the actual for-the-record hearings. One school is chosen per year for this opportunity and we are very excited that your students and our staff get to be a part of the proceedings.
